TRAINS & PLANES - FAST AT MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION

At the recent Railway Enthusiasts Club Model Railway Exhibition at Woking, FAST presented a film and photographic display depicting the former RAE railway which, prior to 1968, linked the Royal Aircraft Establishment and the goods yard at Farnborough railway station on the BR main line. This little known goods traffic rail link ran out of the station and became a tramway running through Farnborough's streets before crossing what was then countryside (now the Invincible Road Trading Estate) and entering the RAE airfield, where it served a coal-fired power station and a complex of storage buildings.

This display generated much interest among visitors to
the show, and is now on view again in the FAST museum.
